Laurie Dove became the Mayor of Valley Center in 2015, and previously served as a city council member. She has been a member of the Regional Economic Area Partnership; chair of the City of Valley Center Library/Community Building Design Committee; member of the City of Valley Center Community Center Committee; and a member of the board of directors of the Wichita Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Dove is president of Dove Media Group Inc., a boutique marketing firm. Although her career began as a journalist, Dove harnessed an entrepreneurial mindset to create a thriving corporation that helps clients dream, negotiate, advocate and communicate.

Some notable clients have included Delta Airlines, HLN, Animal Planet, CNN, HowStuffWorks and more. Dove has been awarded the Kansas Health Foundation’s Excellence in Public Health Reporting Award and has received awards from state and national organizations for her work.

Dove is an MLA degree prospect in the Creative Writing and Literature graduate program at Harvard University. Previously, Dove earned a bachelor’s degree in communication arts with an emphasis in mass media at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. She also completed hours in the integrated marketing and communications master’s program at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

While proud of what she has accomplished as an entrepreneur, Dove also finds satisfaction in volunteerism. She is a member of the Valley Center Lions Club, the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce, the Valley Center Main Street Program and the Valley Center Booster Club. She supports her children in their interests in 4-H and at their Valley Center schools.
